HOF 2025 | Cole & Gomar Inducted

The NMRA traditionally schedules its Hall of Fame inductions for the summer event, and it was excited to honor and present plaques to a pair of outstanding Master's athletes at the Colorado Springs championship. Congratulations! Lars Cole from Grand Rapids, Michigan was recently voted into the Hall of Fame but also worried that this might be his last tournament due to knee troubles. But now Lars may be convinced to check into some scans and potential treatments to help get him pain free. Early on, he had excelled with a core group from Fort Myer (a military base in Washington, DC) that would arrive en masse at NMRA events with team leader Carmen Alatorre-Martin directing the traffic. Latin American MRA Rollout

Good ideas generate good partners ... and it was only a matter of time until the successful NMRA round-robin format became an international franchise. Details are being ironed out, but the LATIN AMERICAN Masters Racquetball Association has been formed and the LAMRA Championships have been played in Guatemala City. The NMRA hosts an International Championship annually, and Board President Cindy Tilbury has been closely involved in running it for well over ten years. Over that decade, she had given a lot of thought to the many 40+ Spanish-speaking players in Central and South America.  "I wanted to create an event, and eventually an organization, that celebrated these players. When Guatemala finished its new 10-court Domo Complejo de Racquetball Club, I knew that would be the perfect spot to hold the first-ever Latin American Masters event." NMRA Supports LIVE LIKE JOHN

RACQUETBALL ORGANIZATIONS DECLARE SUPPORT FOR LIVE LIKE JOHN In a nationwide racquetball initiative supporting military and veteran causes as well as high school and junior racquetball programs; the IRT, LPRT, MACS, NMRA, and USAR announced today their collective support of Live Like John (LLJ) as the non-profit organization plans a number of racquetball events and activities beginning in 2021. Along with the SPC John A. Pelham Memorial Tournament of Champions returning in 2022, the Live Like John Legacy tournament series will be launched nationwide in September.  The series will partner with local events across the country who wish to support LLJ plus will connect with and support local military charities.  As the LLJ Series grows in ensuing years, the ultimate goal is to have an event in every state which will not only support military charities but also provide a competitive racquetball opportunity for active duty military and veterans. Betts & Tilbury invest in IRT

The men’s professional International Racquetball Tour and the IRT Network have combined forces with an investor group that includes NMRA Hall of Famers Rick Betts and Cindy Tilbury of Malibu, California. E.J. Promotions will be led by John Scott, along with added investors Sal and Dee Perconti of St. Petersburg, Florida, Robert Blumenshine of St. Louis, Missouri, and Dean Baer of Long Island, New York.  The racquetball power couple was also featured in their hometown newspaper, The Malibu Surfside News, with a lengthy interview and photos about their long-time involvement with the sport that they love....
