Barry Hendricks, 1946 – 2024

BARRY HENDRICKS - A Life Well Lived ... According to a labor-of-love tribute curated by Susan Hendricks and Cheryl Kirk - Barry Michael Hendricks passed away unexpectedly in his sleep at his home in Phoenix, Arizona, on August 13, 2024. Barry was a brilliant, funny, caring man. He loved his wife and family the most, but a close second was his absolute lifelong love of racquetball and barbecue! His days playing racquetball, up to and including August 9, included 50 years of 30+ Championships all over the world. He was inducted into the National Masters Racquetball Association Hall of Fame in 2021. >> read full obituary and comments << Courtesy of the NMRA and Bruce Adams, please enjoy >> the video presentation << from Barry’s July 17, 2021 NMRA Hall of Fame Induction. Frankly … That’s Commitment

Frankly … That’s Commitment

Mark Frank fits neatly into the NMRA demographic. He's an avid 60+ competitor on the Master's circuit, a successful business owner, proud father, and literal groundbreaker. Mark & Landin Frank In 2014, he began acquiring unique properties to establish the Frank Hotels chain, which continues to grow in both the rugged Northwest and coastal Southeast. A decade later, he's now expanding his own home front in Washington state by adding a free-standing, regulation racquetball court just past the garage. Also this year, Mark's off-court commitment advanced to the next level when he secured title sponsorship of the Frank Hotels IRF World Senior Championship. For the first time in the history of both events, the NMRA International and IRF World Seniors have partnered to offer age-group athletes a single, summertime opportunity to seek a major title. There may not be one Frank Hotels room night available for booking in...

Latin American MRA Rollout

Good ideas generate good partners ... and it was only a matter of time until the successful NMRA round-robin format became an international franchise. Details are being ironed out, but the LATIN AMERICAN Masters Racquetball Association has been formed and the LAMRA Championships have been played in Guatemala City. The NMRA hosts an International Championship annually, and Board President Cindy Tilbury has been closely involved in running it for well over ten years. Over that decade, she had given a lot of thought to the many 40+ Spanish-speaking players in Central and South America.  "I wanted to create an event, and eventually an organization, that celebrated these players. When Guatemala finished its new 10-court Domo Complejo de Racquetball Club, I knew that would be the perfect spot to hold the first-ever Latin American Masters event." A resident of Guatemala City and one of the NMRA's most dedicated players, Marie Gomar was the perfect choice for local tournament director and is set to...
